School Update – Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Following the Government’s most recent Covid-19 update on Sunday 10th May it is important to note that there are no immediate changes in the education or child care provision made by schools.

Therefore, schools will continue to provide distance learning support for students and child care for Key Workers who have provided 24 hours notice of their intention to use the child care facility.

As you will be aware, the government has announced the expectation that Primary schools will begin a phased transition to school based learning from 1st June for Years R, 1 and 6.

We are working closely with the Local Authorities and the Department For Education to ensure the most effective and safe return to school for students and staff. We will be in contact you shortly to update you on our plans.

Please continue to check your mailboxes and this website for updates.

Thank you for your continued support.

We have put together a strategy/plans to help children continue to learn while they are at home.  This can be found at https://www.cedarchildrensacademy.org.uk/curriculum-overview/home-learning/

Book Week 2019

Book Week 2019

Here at Cedar Children’s Academy we have spent the week of 4th-8th March sharing our love of books, reading, story-telling and using our imaginations across the school. Children have taken part in a sponsored read to raise money for new books to stock our home reading corners. We have also spent time looking at our favourite books and the stories within them. We have used our Thinking Hats to dive into the stories and write about characters by adding our own twists. We have also had the Book Fair visit this week to be able to buy new books.

On Friday, the whole school dressed up as their favourite book character. We saw everyone from Harry Potter, Willy Wonka, Mary Poppins, The Hungry Caterpillar, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, Buzz Lightyear, Gangsta Granny, Burt from Ratburger, Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs! There was such incredible effort from everyone who took part and we celebrated this with a parade so that everyone could see how fantastic everyone looked. We rounded off the week with our older children reading to our youngest children in Nursery. It was so lovely to see our children reading with such enthusiasm in order to inspire our younger children to have a passion for reading.
