The Maritime Academy – Strood 2022

A brand-new secondary school, planning to open in September 2022, hopes to be the newest member of the Thinking Schools Academy Trust. A modern, innovative and eco-friendly new-build based in Strood, is looking forward to welcoming its pioneer Year 7 cohort soon.

With the site location just 20 minutes drive from Pentagon Shopping Centre, The Maritime Academy is an excellent opportunity for our children in Strood, offering the chance of a through-education experience; moving seamlessly from our Trust primary schools, stepping into secondary school life with children and staff that they already know.

With an intake of 180 students per year and a 250 student sixth form, The Maritime Academy will deliver the highest quality education. The school is designed to a set of principles that will create an environmentally sustainable place to learn, with a calm and sophisticated environment – we believe it is an exciting opportunity for our children to be our pioneers as the first year’s official cohort. Throughout 2021 we will be working closely with children and staff at Cedar Children’s Academy, through interactive displays, assemblies, workshops and consultations, as we take our children along this exciting journey to the Maritime’s grand opening! We are excited to share with our Thinking Schools Academy Trust children how the school develops from an architects drawing, through to the first shovel in the ground, from its innovative strategy on environmental sustainability, a sneak peek at the new uniform right through to the grand opening and when our TSAT primary children start their very first day.

The school will boast a range of specialist facilities including a gym, multi-use games area, three outdoor pitches, high-spec classrooms and the latest science and technology rooms. The sports facilities, gym and hall spaces will also be available for community use. We will also be working with TSAT schools, Holcombe and Rochester Grammar, to provide a curriculum pathway for the more able.

This investment is a huge vote of confidence in Thinking Schools Academy, which already has three secondary schools in Medway, proving its ability to consistently deliver a top standard education for our local community.
