As you sipped your morning coffee and scrolled through your Facebook page last week, you may have noticed something different about our page…it hadbeen taken over by our pupils!
All week, children were preparing photos and videos of their work to share with you all to give you a taste of life at Cedar, exhibiting some brilliant CEDAR values and Thinking Tools.
Nursery and Reception kicked off our social media takeover by sharing with us some of their beautiful Christmas crafts! From designing their own Christmas jumpers to making their own baubles, the children loved learning about Christmastime and sharing their Christmas-themed work with you.
Years 1 and 2 at Cedar took to social media on Tuesday! To start the day, Year 1 showed us their lovely ‘Tiger Who Came to Tea’ themed tea party which looked like so much fun. Year 1’s Phoebe then shared an amazing story with us which she had written all by herself. Year 2 then shared some of their fascinating work Science and Maths work with us, including beautifully drawn diagrams of the life cycle of a tadpole, some brilliant work on materials and some very impressive column subtraction.
On Wednesday, Year 6 gave us an insight into some of the really interesting work they’ve been doing around World War 2 and Windrush. Some pupils even climbed into the shoes of the characters from their class reader, Once by Morris Gleitzman, and conducted an interview where they shared their thoughts and feelings about the plot. We then received an excellent lesson from Year 6 pupils on how to make a circuit, which was demonstrated brilliantly.
It was Year 5’s turn to share their learning with us on Thursday, and they taught us how to multiply and divide by 10, 100 and 1000 using a real-life number slider! They did a brilliant job of explaining their method and demonstrating how it works. Year 5 then used their Thinking Hats to evaluate their current class book, The Butterfly Lion by Michael Morpurgo. The students offered some really lovely reflections on how they felt about the book and what they enjoyed most about it.
Year 3 got creative on Thursday with their Christmas decorations, sharing some lovely images of them making and painting their creations. They then showed us some work of which they were the most proud, demonstrating excellent persistence, resilience and determination. They ended the day by showing us some of the delicious creations that they made after writing instructions on how to design and make a wrap or sandwich.
We were also lucky enough to see a wide range of work from Year 4 on Thursday, including circuit-making, exciting work on Harry Potter, and some fascinating history work on the Black Death. They even shared an excellent video of them playing the recorder! On the last day of the social media takeover, Oak Class showed us some of their fantastic Christmas work, including letters to Santa and Nativity storyboards.
