Gold Award for PE Excellence

Cedar Children’s Academy is delighted to announce that we have achieved the Gold School Games Mark for the 2024/25 academic year. The School Games Mark is a government-led award scheme, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, that recognises schools for their commitment to developing sporting competition both within school and the wider community.

As part of our application, we fulfilled criteria across participation, competition, workforce and clubs. The dedication of our pupils, staff, young volunteers, leaders and officials has been rewarded with this prestigious accolade.

Sporting Achievements 2024/25

Our sporting achievements this year include:

  • Joint second in the Local Primary Football League
  • Attended many MYG and Sports competitions throughout the year
  • First whole school County Cross Country Finals
  • Participation in the SEND Cricket Festival at Kings Hill Cricket Club
  • Launch of after-school football clubs with over 60 participants
  • 20 pupils trained as Young Sport Leaders through the Youth Sport Trust programme

With a total of 98 young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are immensely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport.

Summer Sports Day 2025 Highlights

On Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th July 2025, our annual summer sports day brought the whole academy together for two days of fantastic athletic competition. Pupils gave their all in track races, long jump, shot put, obstacle relays and more. Each class cheered on their teammates, pushing each other to new personal bests.

In the final standings, Willow Class (Year 2) emerged as champions with a remarkable 143 points. Congratulations also to Redwood Class (Year 6) and Acacia Class (Year 5) who rounded out the podium.

A huge thank you to our teachers and support staff for organising and officiating each event, and to parents and carers for turning out in their droves to cheer on the children. Your energy and encouragement made the days truly special.

We look forward to building on this success throughout 2025/26, continuing to nurture our young athletes, leaders and volunteers. Here’s to another year of teamwork, sporting excellence and Gold-standard PE provision at Cedar Children’s Academy!
