Cedar Children’s Academy Celebrates Everyday Active Schools Achievement

January 28, 2026 04:15pm

Cedar Children’s Academy is celebrating an important milestone after being presented with a Certificate of Recognition for completing the Everyday Active Schools workshop and successfully embedding a whole‑school approach to physical activity. The certificate was awarded on site by Charlie Sharp, a representative from Active Kent & Medway, who leads support for schools taking part in the programme.

The Everyday Active Schools initiative is designed to help primary schools increase children’s physical activity levels by weaving movement into daily routines and learning. The programme focuses on seven key areas of opportunity, including active lessons, breaktimes, school clubs, PE, active travel, events and family/community engagement.

A Whole‑School Commitment to Being Active

Staff at Cedar Children’s Academy took part in the programme’s onboarding workshop, which supports schools in reviewing current practice and developing a bespoke action plan. The workshop also highlights the importance of children achieving recommended daily activity levels and demonstrates how physical activity can positively influence attendance, behaviour and academic attainment.

By adopting this whole‑school approach, Cedar Children’s Academy has demonstrated its commitment not only to improving physical health, but also to enhancing pupils’ confidence, social skills, concentration and overall wellbeing—key benefits identified by Active Kent & Medway.

Recognition from Active Kent & Medway

During today’s presentation, Charlie Sharp praised the school’s dedication to creating an environment where movement is part of everyday life. Active Kent & Medway’s vision is to get “more people, more active, more often,” and Cedar Children’s Academy is now proudly part of the growing network of schools championing this mission.

Looking Ahead

The school will continue working with Active Kent & Medway as it builds on its action plan and explores new ways to keep pupils active throughout the school day. This recognition marks an exciting step forward in Cedar Children’s Academy’s ongoing commitment to supporting healthy, happy and active learners.
