From Monday 30th June to Friday 4th July, Cedar Children’s Academy was transformed into a hive of innovation and enterprise as pupils took part in our exciting Enterprise Week. This much-anticipated event gave every class the opportunity to set up and run their own business, competing to design, create and sell a product or service.
The programme, tailored primarily for Key Stage 2, was thoughtfully adapted to include Key Stage 1 and EYFS pupils. The week was not only about making a profit, but also about developing teamwork, problem-solving and financial awareness in a fun and engaging way.
The highlight of the week was the Enterprise Fair held after school on Friday 4th July. Blessed with sunshine and a fantastic turnout, the playground was filled with laughter, excitement and a real sense of community. Children proudly showcased their stalls, offering everything from handmade crafts to games and challenges. Parents, carers and pupils enthusiastically supported the event, spending generously and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere.
In just one hour, the children raised an incredible £760. The winning class, Magnolia, stood out with their hugely popular ‘Throw a Wet Sponge at a Teacher’ stall, raising just under £100. As part of their prize, Magnolia class chose to split the total profits between two charities close to their hearts: £380 will be donated to The Fox Project, a local wildlife charity, and £380 to The National Autistic Society, supporting a national cause.
Throughout the week, pupils also had the chance to hear from a number of parents and carers who kindly visited to speak about their careers and businesses. These talks offered valuable insights and helped to broaden the children’s understanding of the world of work.
We are incredibly proud of all our pupils for their enthusiasm, creativity and commitment. Enterprise and Careers Week was a resounding success, and we are grateful to our staff, families and wider community for their support in making it such a memorable experience.
