On Wednesday 21st May 2025, Cedar Children’s Academy came alive with colour, rhythm and creativity as pupils across the school celebrated the World Day of Cultural Diversity. The day was a vibrant celebration of global cultures, offering children the opportunity to explore and appreciate the rich traditions, art, and heritage of communities around the world.
Throughout the day, pupils engaged in a variety of exciting workshops and activities designed to deepen their understanding of different nations and cultures.
Year 5 and Year 6 were treated to energetic African drumming workshops delivered by Rich Rhythms. The sessions were filled with music, movement, and storytelling, giving pupils a hands-on experience of African musical traditions.
In Years 2, 3 and 4, we welcomed teachers and students from Rochester Grammar School, who led a series of inspiring art workshops:
Year 1 enjoyed a special interactive workshop led by one of our parent governors, Mrs Alexander, who shared her Nigerian and Indian heritage through stories, artefacts, and hands-on activities.
In EYFS, children learned about Lithuania, exploring its customs and traditions through engaging classroom activities. Meanwhile, in Nursery, a parent volunteer visited to talk about his home country of Afghanistan, sharing stories and cultural items that fascinated the children.
To complement the day’s learning, Chartwells provided a special themed cultural lunch, offering pupils a taste of international cuisine and further enriching the day’s experience.
The celebrations concluded on Friday 23rd May 2025 with a World Day of Cultural Diversity display. Parents and carers were invited to view the incredible work produced by the children, showcasing their creativity, curiosity and appreciation for the world’s diverse cultures.
It was a truly joyful and enriching experience for all involved. At Cedar Children’s Academy, we are proud to nurture global citizens who value and respect the diversity that makes our world so wonderfully unique.
